Route: Negombo – Yala – Udawalawe – Mirissa/Tangalle – Galle – Bentota – Hikkaduwa – Colombo

Day 1: Negombo - Arrival and coastal charm

Arrive in Sri Lanka and transfer to Negombo, a lively fishing town near the airport. Relax by the sandy beach and enjoy the tropical atmosphere. Explore the Dutch canals and colonial-era churches. Unwind with fresh seafood and a sunset view.

Day 2: Negombo - Local exploration and leisure

Spend the day discovering more of Negombo. Visit the bustling fish market for a glimpse of local life. Take a boat ride through the lagoon where fishermen still use traditional methods. Return to the beach for an easygoing evening.

Day 3: Yala - Safari adventure begins

Travel south to Yala National Park, home to the highest density of leopards in the world. Enjoy a jeep safari across grasslands, lagoons and rocky outcrops. Spot elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles in the wild. Stay overnight near the park under starry skies.

Day 4: Yala - Wildlife encounters

Head out for another safari to increase your chances of spotting leopards and other elusive animals. Watch colourful birds flit between the trees. Visit salt pans and watering holes where herds gather. Spend the afternoon relaxing before your next day’s journey.

Day 5: Udawalawe - Elephant paradise

Continue inland to Udawalawe National Park, famous for its elephant herds. Take a jeep safari and watch these giants in their natural setting. Visit the Elephant Transit Home to see young elephants being cared for before release. End the day surrounded by peaceful nature.

Day 6: Udawalawe - Birdwatching and park exploration

Enjoy a morning safari focused on birdlife and smaller creatures of the park. Spot eagles, kingfishers and storks around the reservoir. Explore more of the park’s landscapes from open grasslands to thick scrub. Relax in the evening at your eco-lodge.

Day 7: Mirissa - Beach arrival

Day 10: Galle - Coastal charm and culture

Travel south to Galle, a city shaped by colonial influences. Explore the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort with its ramparts, lighthouse and cobbled streets. Visit museums and boutique shops within the fort walls. Watch the waves crash against the old bastions at sunset.

Day 11: Bentota - Seaside relaxation

Travel to Bentota, known for its wide sandy beaches. Relax under palm trees or swim in calm lagoons. Enjoy optional activities like jet skiing, banana boating or river safaris. End the day with a serene sunset by the coast.

Day 12: Bentota - River and lagoon adventures

Explore more of Bentota at leisure. Take a boat ride along the Bentota River and spot mangroves, water monitors and birdlife. Visit a local turtle hatchery to learn about conservation efforts. Spend your evening unwinding by the ocean.

Day 13: Hikkaduwa - Coral reef exploration

Continue to Hikkaduwa, a vibrant beach town. Go snorkelling to discover colourful coral reefs and tropical fish. Explore the lively beachfront with shops and restaurants. Relax with a drink as the waves crash nearby.

Day 14: Hikkaduwa - Coastal leisure

Spend another day enjoying Hikkaduwa. Try surfing lessons or glass-bottom boat rides. Visit a lagoon for a peaceful escape. Enjoy your final beach sunset before heading to Colombo.

Day 15: Colombo - City highlights

Day 16: Colombo - Departure
