Route: Negombo – Sinharaja – Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya – Ella – Knuckles – Udawalawe – Colombo

Day 1: Negombo - Arrival and rest

Arrive in Sri Lanka and settle in the coastal town of Negombo. Stroll along the sandy beach and breathe in the island air. Explore the Dutch canals and lively fish market if time allows. Relax and prepare for your rainforest journey.

Day 2: Negombo - Leisure and local culture

Spend your day at ease before your adventure begins. Visit local churches and temples that highlight Negombo’s diverse culture. Sample fresh seafood by the lagoon. Enjoy a calm evening with views of the sunset.

Day 3: Sinharaja - Into the rainforest

Travel to the Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin a guided trek through dense jungle alive with birds and butterflies. Spot rare plants and colourful reptiles among the greenery. Overnight near the forest surrounded by nature’s sounds.

Day 4: Sinharaja - Wildlife exploration

Set out for another rainforest trek with your naturalist guide. Search for endemic species like the Sri Lanka blue magpie and purple-faced langur. Walk along streams and small cascades hidden in the canopy. Return to your lodge and rest.

Day 5: Horton Plains - Highland adventure

Head to Horton Plains National Park in the cool central highlands. Walk the World’s End trail with sweeping views over the valley. Visit Baker’s Falls, one of the park’s most striking cascades. Enjoy the peaceful montane forest atmosphere.

Day 6: Horton Plains - Scenic walks

Embark on another early morning walk for misty landscapes and wildlife sightings. Spot sambar deer grazing in the open plains. Explore shaded trails that wind through cloud forest patches. Return for a quiet evening in the hills.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya - Tea country charm

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, often called Little England. Tour a tea plantation and learn the art of Ceylon tea making. Stroll around Gregory Lake and admire colonial-era architecture. Relax in the cool mountain air.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya - Waterfall visits

Spend the day exploring waterfalls around the town such as Ramboda Falls and Lover’s Leap. Take scenic drives through rolling tea estates. Visit a local market for fresh produce and flowers. Return to your hotel for a restful evening.

Day 9: Ella - Highlands and hiking

Travel by train or road to Ella, a charming mountain village. Hike to Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lanka’s second-highest waterfall. Explore the laid-back town filled with cafés. End your day with views of the misty hills.

Day 10: Ella - Peaks and bridges

Climb Little Adam’s Peak for stunning panoramas of the valleys. Visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, a marvel of colonial engineering. Wander through tea fields and forests around Ella. Unwind at a local café with mountain views.

Day 11: Knuckles - Into the wild

Head to the Knuckles Mountain Range, a rugged and less-visited area. Begin a trek through cloud forests and small villages. Spot hidden waterfalls along jungle trails. Stay overnight in eco-style lodges.

Day 12: Knuckles - Trekking and discovery

Continue trekking deeper into Knuckles with your guide. Watch for rare orchids and mountain birds. Pause at cascading streams for rest and reflection. Return to your lodge surrounded by pristine wilderness.

Day 13: Udawalawe - Safari experience

Travel to Udawalawe National Park, famed for elephants. Take an evening jeep safari across open grasslands and the reservoir. Spot elephants, crocodiles and raptors in the wild. Settle in near the park for the night.

Day 14: Udawalawe - Morning safari and leisure

Go on a morning safari for a final chance to spot elephants and birdlife. Visit the Elephant Transit Home to learn about conservation. Spend your afternoon relaxing in natural surroundings. Reflect on your wildlife encounters.

Day 15: Colombo - Departure

Return to Colombo for your final day. Depending on your flight time, enjoy a short city tour or last-minute shopping. Walk along Galle Face Green by the ocean. Transfer to the airport for departure.
